REVIEWS: Zen Zen Zo’s ‘CABARET’ by Joe Masteroff (dir. Lynne Bradley), 2011

"Every now and then you attend a production that leaves you speechless. Zen Zen Zo’s production of Cabaret, is one of those. "Jillian Geurts plays Fraulein Schneider and her vocal performance is delightful. She creates a character that is easy to empathise with. Her performance is complimented by the great connection between her and fellow ensemble member Earl Kim who plays Herr Schultz. Earl physically embodies his role in every way. "Geurts is a stand out for her characterisation and commitment to the role. She is a beautiful young woman who manages to portray the age and frailty of an old, desperate woman."

"The late-life romance of Fraulein Schneider (Jillian Geurts shows the wracking pain of the choice she has to make) and the Jewish-Chinese greengrocer Herr Schultz (Earl Kim in a subtle contrast of pathos and strength) is doomed because of their racial differences…This show is quite simply a triumph"

"Members of the ensemble play a range of characters, transforming themselves with little but basic items of costuming and their sheer physicality. Jillian Geurts and Earl Kim delightfully and painfully share the story of the elderly lovers, Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz."
